Recap of the 2019 CBP Trade Symposium

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) held its annual Trade Symposium on July 23 – 24, 2019, in Chicago, IL. With over a thousand attendees, this year’s trade symposium provided a high-level overview of the Agency’s current stance on various issues and the need for stronger partnership between all stakeholders, including the trade community. DTL was on the ground meeting with CBP to get answers to our client’s questions and ensuring we keep our readers in the loop on CBP’s TOP trade priorities. The two-day event included panel discussions and one on one meetings with the Directors and Executive Directors other Centers of Excellence and Expertise, along with exhibitor booths that ranged from CBP Enforcement of Forced Labor, AD/CVD, and IPR to USDA and FDA. REGISTRATION NOW OPEN- 2019 CBP TRADE SYMPOSIUM

U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that the 2019 Trade Symposium will be held on July 23-24, 2019 at the Marriott Marquis in Chicago, Illinois.

Registration is open and CLOSES on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

This year’s symposium will include discussions on:

Trade Transformation (Port of the future/ Emerging Technology)
Northern Triangle (Immigration & crime from Central/South America)
E-Commerce
Intellectual Property Enforcement
Trade Remedies
Forced Labor

The Symposium will also offer One-on-One Center Discussions!

CBP Symposium Postponed Due to Weather

Hurricane Sandy is busy disrupting the sunshine state as well as D.C. Breaking news from CBP, the CBP Symposium, due to start this coming Monday, is now postponed. CBP’s message is below. This is a great opportunity for CBP to join the CTPAT conference with the symposium. I hope they do. I’ll keep you advised when the CBP symposium is back on.

Dear Registrants,
Due to concerns over participant safety and potential travel disruptions related to Hurricane Sandy, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has decided to postpone the East Coast Trade Symposium that had been scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
We apologize for this inconvenience, but due to the strength and breadth of this storm we believe this postponement is the appropriate decision. We do not want to risk the safety of our participants, many of whom would be traveling to Washington D.C. to attend.
The nature of the storm is such that the agency’s emergency response protocols have been activated and must take precedence.
CBP will provide additional information regarding the registration for this event at a later date. The new date and location within the Washington DC Metropolitan Area for the symposium will be announced as soon as possible. CBP officials apologize for this inconvenience and will reschedule this important event in the near future.

2012 CBP Symposium Announced!

CBP announced May 10, 2012 as the date for CBP’s Trade Symposium – “Transforming Trade for a Stronger Economy.” It will take place in Long Beach California, and registration starts March 20, 2012!
